A series of switches DES-1210/ME is an ideal solution for use in the networks of Metro Ethernet. The devices in this series are equipped with 8/24 Fast Ethernet ports for connecting on copper, as well as 2/4 Combo Gigabit / SFP, which provide bandwidth of up to 4 Gb / s and allow you to use these switches in a ring topology. Surge protection 6 kV provides resistance to overvoltage, and the full set of security and authentication protects the network from internal and external threats.
Security and Authentication
DES-1210/ME series switches support the 802.1X access control based on the port / host, the ability to create a guest VLAN, and authentication and RADIUS / TACACS + for strong access control to the network. Function IP-MAC-Port Binding allows administrators to bind a source IP-address with an associated MAC address for a specific switch port number to enhance access control features. Built-in D-Link Safeguard Engine ™ identifies and prioritizes packets destined for processing by the processor switch to prevent malicious attacks that could interfere with the normal operation of the switch. In addition, the Access Control List (ACL) enhances network security and performance.
Resilience / performance
DES-1210/ME series switches support protocols Spanning Tree (STP): 802.1D-2004 edition, 802.1w and 802.1s. STP protocols allow a redundant backup data path to be used in the event of failure of any switch on the main route of the network traffic. The switches also support Aggregation 802.3ad, which provides clustering several ports and as a result, increasing bandwidth and increasing resiliency compounds. These models support IEEE 802.1p Quality of Service (QoS), which allows to classify the traffic in real time on the 8 priority levels mapped to 4 queues. Port Mirroring facilitate traffic diagnostics and helps administrators to monitor switch performance and alter it if necessary. Supports IGMP Snooping allows you to reduce the amount of multicast traffic and optimize network performance.
DES-1210/ME series switches support a full set of Layer 2 features for working with multicast, including IGMP Snooping, IGMP filtering, Fast Leave and configuration for multicast traffic on specific ports. Thanks to the support of the functional DES-1210/ME series switches provide the ability to work with IPTV-services, enjoys a growing demand in the market. IGMP / MLD Snooping allows host-based connection of multiple clients multicast group to a single network interface. When using the ISM VLAN multicast traffic for the purpose of efficient expenditure of bandwidth transferred to a separate VLAN. ISM VLAN profiles allow users to quickly and easily assign / change the preset settings on ports multicast subscribers.
The user-friendly web-based interface for easy management, and DHCP automatically provides advanced management features, allowing administrators to pre-configure the settings and save them to the TFTP-server. After that, the individual switches can receive IP-address from the server and load the preset configuration options. Protocol LLDP (Link Layer Discovery Protocol) allows network equipment notify the local network of its existence and characteristics that help better manage the topology of the network.
