DKVM-IP1EOL
1-Port Combo KVM over IP
Description
The D-Link DKVM-IP1 1-Port Combo KVM Switch lets you control a computer/server remotely via the Internet from anywhere on the World Wide Web. It can also be connected to a standard KVM switch to provide remote control of multiple computers.
Remote Control via the World Wide Web
This KVM-over-IP device allows a remote user to control the “Host” computer (the computer that is attached directly to the DKVM-IP1) via the Internet or a LAN. This means that you can get full control over the Host system from any computer that is connected to the Internet, anywhere on the planet. The DKVM-IP1 is installed on the Host side and transmits the remote computer’s control input (mouse and keyboard) to the Host computer. It also captures, digitizes, and compresses the video output signal of the Host computer and then transmits it to the remote computer. This allows for remote control of the computer, no matter what operating system or software it uses.
Control Multiple Computers via a KVM Switch
In addition, you can use this KVM-over-IP device to gain remote control over multiple computers/servers. You can do this by simply connecting this device to a standard KVM Switch. Once you’ve done that, you can remotely control all the computers that are attached to that standard KVM Switch.
BIOS-Level Control and Remote Wake-Up
The DKVM-IP1 lets you gain BIOS-level access to remotely located Host computers. This means you can get full control over the Host computer for maintenance, support, and failure recovery. The DKVM-IP1 also features a “Remote Wake-up” function that lets a remote user shut down and wake up all computers on the device’s LAN, whether they are connected to the DKVM-IP1 or not. This enables the user to save on power usage and electricity bills.
A Non-Intrusive Solution
This DKVM-IP1 provides a non-intrusive solution for remote access and control. The remote access and control software only runs on the device’s embedded processors, not on the Host computer itself, so it does not interfere with server operations, or affect network performance.
Virtual Media Functions
The DKVM-IP1 provides a powerful feature called Virtual Media (or Virtual Disk). The DKVM-IP1 can mount either a local floppy disk image (stored on the DKVM-IP1) or a redirected remote CD/DVD-ROM image on the Host computer through the DKVM-IP1’s built-in USB Data port. This allows the remote user to perform a system recovery on the Host computer, even when a disk failure has occurred or when the network connection to the Host computer is down.
Comprehensive Web-based Management Software
The DKVM-IP1 does not require any client software and comes with pre-loaded confguration and management software that makes remote control of the Host system an easy task. This web-based Graphic User Interface (GUI) provides easy access to a comprehensive list of confguration categories, such as User Management, Drive Redirection, Device Settings, Event Log, and more. Simply click on the category you want to confgure to navigate to a setup screen that will display all the available confguration options for that category.
SSL User Accounts for Robust Security
All communications with the DKVM-IP1 are secured by SSL authentication and encryption. The DKVM-IP1 can also create a Certifcate Signing Request (CSR) string for use in applying for an SSL certifcate, which can then be uploaded to the DKVM-IP1 for identifcation purposes.
