World-Leading Design Award Organization Honors Networking Company's All-In-One 802.11n Storage Router

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., March 31, 2009 — D-Link, the end-to-end networking solutions provider for consumers and business, today announced that its All-In-One 802.11n home router has won the highly acclaimed International Red Dot award for product design.

The D-Link® DIR-685 introduced earlier this year at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, is the first home network router in the industry to incorporate fast 802.11n Wi-Fi, a digital photo frame, network attached storage (NAS) and other convenient features into one stylish desktop unit. An international jury of design experts gave the product honorable mention, stating "it was created with convenience and functionality in mind, making it a stylish enhancement for any modern home."

"This award demonstrates our expertise in networking solutions as well as our ability to create smart designs that enhance a home environment," said Steven Joe, president and CEO of D-Link Systems, Inc. in Fountain Valley, Calif. "We put a lot of effort into making the DIR-685 compact and chic."

The DIR-685 is the central control unit for a digital home. The integrated 802.11n Wi-Fi provides a fast Internet connection to wireless computers and smooth streaming of music/video from stored media on the network to a TV or home entertainment center. The DIR-685 can share disk space wirelessly among family members and download personal documents from the Internet. The router's multiple input/multiple output (MIMO) antenna technology ensures that wireless data transfers are fast and reach all wireless devices in the home.

The device features a user-friendly interface on a 3.2-inch LCD screen that displays the status of connected devices graphically, and serves as a digital photo frame, displaying digital photos, streaming video, weather forecasts and other Internet content in up to 1.6 million colors.

The Wi-Fi router also provides NAS and D-Link's unique SharePort ™ Technology to share printers and scanners. The DIR-685 comes with a 4-port 10/100/1000 Gigabit switch to connect multiple wired devices such as computers, media players and game consoles for fast file transfer and lag-free online gaming. An optional 2.5" hard drive can be installed in the router to provide network storage.

Part of the D-Link Green™ product family, the DIR-685 features power-saving technology to help reduce energy consumption. This proprietary technology automatically recognizes port activity and cable length in order to adjust power usage. Additional energy savings are achieved by consolidating multiple functions in a single device instead of many separate products, as well as automatically shutting off power to the LCD screen when in idle mode.

Red Dot judges selected the DIR-685 from 3,231 entries submitted by 1,400 contestants from 49 countries. Earlier this year, D-Link won another prestigious honor - the 2009 iF (International Forum) Product Design Award for its DCS-3415 Fixed Network Camera - the first in the product line to receive such an honor.

D-Link's award-winning products will be presented in a special exhibition entitled "Design on Stage" for four weeks from June 30 to July 26 at the Red Dot Design Museum in Essen, Germany. As a recipient of this award, the D-Link DIR-685 will also will be displayed in the Red Dot Online Exhibition (www.red-dot.de) from July 1 for about one year.

About D-Link Green™ technology

D-Link Green™ technology can detect a link's status and cable length, and adjust power usage accordingly. By reducing power consumption, less heat is produced, resulting in extended product life and lower operating costs.
